The Drowsy Chaperone is a musical comedy, book by Bob Martin & Don McKellar; music & lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison. The play is an homage to American musicals of the Jazz Age. Winner of 5 Tony awards in 2006, including Best Book and Best Original Score.
AUDITION DATES:
Tuesday, July 26 from 6 PM until 10 PM
Wednesday, July 27 from 6 PM until 10 PM
If a callback audition is necessary, it will be held on Wednesday, August 3 at 6 PM.
Please prepare a 45-60 second song selection for your audition. If you would like to be considered for a principal role, please prepare the appropriate song from the show. However, those auditioning for dance and ensemble roles may present any song from the musical theatre genre. Please note that ALL AUDITIONEES MUST SING, even dancers.
Cold reading and dance auditions will take place after vocal auditions.
Show dates are Sept.23, 24, 25, 30, Oct.1, 2. Amy Adams Gartman will be our choreographer and Libba Vanderbeek will be our stage manager. We will be casting 8 female principal characters, 5 male principal characters, and 8-10 ensemble/dance roles. Character descriptions can be found below.

In the song "Adolpho", the high notes in the song can be sung calla foce (falsetto). The lower notes are more of a character voice.
FELDZIEG Broadway producer, played by Jack Adler.

GANGSTERS Posing as pastry chefs, intending to collect from Feldzieg, played by the vaudeville duo the Tall Brothers.

MAN IN CHAIR Musical theatre aficionado who mourns the end of the Golden Era. His recording of "The Drowsy Chaperone" brings the show to life as he narrates.
MRS. TOTTENDALE The air-headed host of the wedding.
